Fair questions, straight answers
The things people ask before trusting a budgeting app — answered the way we’d want them answered.
Getting started
Is Monilibrium free?
Free while in beta — and core budgeting will always be free. That’s a promise, not a trial period. If paid plans ever exist, they’ll add extras, not paywall the essentials.
Do I connect my bank account?
No — and it’s on purpose, not a missing feature. You describe your paydays and bills once; the app does the thinking from there. Entering your own spending keeps you close to your money: seeing what leaves your account every day is exactly what makes you conscious of where it goes. That awareness — not another chart — is what changes spending behavior.
Do I have to enter every single transaction?
You log your flexible spending — the bucket stuff — with one tap. Planned bills and paydays are Monilibrium’s job: it projects them, and when they land as planned it records them by itself. You only touch a bill when reality differed from the plan.
What do I need to sign up?
A Google account. That’s the whole list — no passwords to invent, no card on file.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes — Monilibrium is built phone-first and runs in any browser. A native app is in the works.
Your money & data
Is my data safe?
Yes. Your data is stored securely — encrypted on our servers, so there’s nothing readable if the drives ever walked out the door — and is never sold, shared, or used for advertising. Our analytics never see your numbers: no amounts, balances, names, or anything you type — and you can switch them off entirely in Settings. See our privacy policy for full details.
Can Monilibrium move my money?
No — structurally no. There’s no bank connection, so there’s nothing the app could move, charge, or withdraw. It’s a thinking tool, not a wallet.
Will you email me?
No marketing email, ever — no newsletter, no “tips,” no “we miss you.” Today there is no mail service connected to Monilibrium at all, so we couldn’t send one if we wanted to. If paid plans ever arrive, the only messages we would send are transactional receipts for something you actually bought. Your address is never sold, shared, or added to anyone’s list.
What happens if I delete my account?
Your data goes with it. Deleting your account removes your plan from our systems — it’s yours, including the right to walk away.
How it compares
How is this different from Mint or YNAB?
Those tools mostly look backward — they tell you where last month went. Monilibrium looks forward: it projects the months ahead and tells you what’s safe to spend today. Less report card, more headlights.
Is this envelope budgeting?
Buckets borrow the best part of envelopes — money set aside in advance — without the ritual. And unlike envelopes, everything sits on a forward projection, so irregular bills are covered too.
I’ve failed at budgeting apps before.
So had I — that’s why this exists. I tried plenty of methods before building this one; what finally worked was a spreadsheet I kept myself, and Monilibrium is that idea done properly. It asks for one habit: log your flexible spending as it happens. In return you get a single forward-looking number instead of a report on a month you can’t change.
Language & currency
What languages does it speak?
English and Spanish (es-MX), throughout — the app and every page on this site. Switch anytime from the footer or your settings.
What currencies are supported?
Amounts are in US dollars today. More currencies are on the list — and your language choice is independent of currency.
Ready to see your number?
Look around first, or sign in with Google. Setup takes about ten minutes.
