Budgeting for irregular bills

Car insurance twice a year. The vet, eventually. Irregular bills are where most budgets quietly fall apart — because a monthly view can’t see them coming. Here’s how Monilibrium handles them.

1

Round up the bills that don’t come monthly

Insurance, registrations, annual subscriptions, quarterly water — the ones that ambush you. In Monilibrium they aren’t a special case: they land on the same timeline as rent, at the schedule they really keep.

2

Add each one with its real schedule

Don’t convert to a monthly average — give Monilibrium the truth: “$420 every six months, next due January 12th.” Any frequency works.

3

Let the projection carry the weight

The bill now sits on your projection. As it approaches, your Safe to Spend automatically tightens so the money is there on the day.

4

Watch your low point, not your average

The insurance month will dip lower than others — that’s expected. What matters is that the dip was flagged months ago and never goes below zero.

Tip:

Not sure of the amount? Mark it estimated (“about $400”) and reconcile when the real bill lands.
